Capturing the Island of Martha’s Vineyard
“For more than 40 years, I’ve been a witness to the Island’s changing seasonal moods. I’ve seen the Vineyard amid the winds of a hurricane and at dawn of a quiet still morning.”
Scenic & Portrait Photography
While Mark enjoys shooting scenic photographs on and around the Island, in a boat and on the shore, people photography is a big part of the work he does. In almost successive years, Mark has earned top awards from the New England Newspaper and Press Association. He has worked as a photojournalist for close to 50 years. His photographs appear regularly in the weekly newspaper Vineyard Gazette.
Mark is a journalist first, capturing events without becoming an event. He also likes to work with people up close. A portrait with a smile can be an accident, but with a professional photographer, it is no accident.
During this serious pandemic, Mark is not doing any event photography, family portraits or portraits.
Mark photographs using the best professional digital camera, lenses and software available. His tools include a Fujifilm X-T4 and X-T1 for shooting digital color, a Hasselblad medium format film camera, a (4 x 5) large format camera, and a HD Sony video camera.
Mark possesses and still uses a black and white darkroom.
