Astronomy Events Ahead:

Mark is available for a stargazing events in your backyard, your summer gatherings. Mark will share seafaring stories with a local flare. Imagine the days of great ships traveling the world from Martha’s Vineyard, from Cape Cod. How did they find their way? They did it knowing the stars, constellations and planets. Monday, April 8, Afternoon: Partial Solar Eclipse as seen from Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. Mark Alan Lovewell is an experienced amateur astronomer and professional photographer. He is available for giving a lecture to coincide with the afternoon eclipse. We are working on ideas about a place. But we don’t know yet. This is a once in a lifetime event. Don’t miss it. And if you can, come hear Mark talk about the significance and details of this historic event. We’ll let you know if there is a program you can attend.

Monday, June 17, 2024, 9 to 10:30 p.m.: New Moon Naked Eye Stargazing with Mark Alan Lovewell, on the hill at Martha’s Vineyard Museum. Suggested donation $10. Martha’s Vineyard Museum is turning the lights out at the museum for a night of stargazing. They invite the community up the hill to do some good old fashioned stargazing with Mark Alan Lovewell, an expert guide who will point out the constellations and share the legends and lore of our cosmos. It’s a night to slow down and make a memory with your friends, family, a date, or just you!

Wednesday, July 3, 2024,  8 to 10 p.m. Stars and Stripes: Stargazing with Mark Alan Lovewell. An evening program on the grounds of Long Point Wildlife Refuge, West Tisbury, hosted by the Trustees of Reservations. It is one of the most pristine beautiful properties on Martha’s Vineyard, well suited for a stargazing night. To access please use the Summer Entrance to Long Point Wildlife Refuge. Access is off Waldron’s Bottom Road in West Tisbury. There are Long Point Wildlife signs all the way down the winding rural road. Bring your enthusiasm for starry nights. Binoculars are not required but are fun to have. Mark will tell ancient and new stories about the constellations and stars above. See you then.
